Young children & global citizenship
Children’s experiences involve connections to places and people throughout the world. This resource draws on creative thinking and practice by KS1 and Foundation Stage teachers for supporting children’s growing sense of their global citizenship. It includes children’s work, case studies and ideas for taking the work further.

Whose citizenship? ... a teachers’ toolkit
Offers a toolkit of ideas for enabling a global approach to ‘local’ citizenship investigations. Approaches include the use of newspapers, statistics, photographs, local visits and web-sites. Teachers involved also share their insights and reflections about key principles and potential pitfalls. KS3

Rehearsing our roles

Geographical Association Silver Award, 2004
A comprehensive resource to support enquiry about development issues. Photos, world maps, cartoons, web-site support and teaching ideas provide a stimulus, but also help teachers take a fresh look at development and how it is taught. KS3

Citizenship in common?
A poster pack to support learners’ understanding of the relationship between Europe and Africa. The four maps [each using a different style] represent this relationship by focusing on historical, trade, wealth and future dimensions. KS2/3

Written by ITE tutors for ITE students. A comparative exploration of the education system and key citizenship themes found here and in South Africa. Provides a wealth of material for debate and discussion on issues such as race, racism and education; literacy and empowerment; disability and inclusion; conflict resolution and peace.

Comparative education and quality global learning
Engaging with controversial issues in South Africa and the UK

One of the outcomes of a Tide~ project that involved a group of UK teacher educators in a study visit to South Africa. Comparative study supported them in reflecting on their own, as well as South African, educational practice.  This book highlights many perspectives that need to be part of an international debate about the role of education to build a better future built on the commonality of our global experiences.
