Provisional programme

In addition to scheduled sessions together, participants will engage in personal study – including maintaining a reflective learning journal and conducting an in-depth personal investigation.

Study visit – February half term 2009

Day 1 • Arrival and initial orientation
Day 2 • Exploring sustainable development in the local area
• Meeting to reflect on initial experiences and ideas
Day 3 • Short reflective workshop
• Informal activities/personal research/rest time
Day 4 • Induction at National Environment Agency
• Fieldwork in Greater Banjul Area
• Reflective meeting
Day 5 • Joint fieldwork and investigation with Gambian colleagues [eg amenity sites, government departments, projects, communities, coastal areas, nature reserves]
• Reflective meeting
Day 6 • Joint day workshop with Gambian colleagues
Day 7 • Extended workshop – taking stock of learning
• Informal activities/personal research/rest time
Day 8 • Evaluation of study visit component
• Return to UK
