Global Learning for Science and D&T teachers: connected curriculum development at KS3

Tuesday 2nd March and Thursday 17th June 2010, 4-6pm
Free, booking essential

This project is an opportunity for pairs of Science and D&T teachers to explore and try out creative curriculum development at KS3 through global learning.

Global learning includes developing skills of enquiry and critical thinking, and the ability to engage with different perspectives. It offers opportunities to explore global issues, interdependence, processes of development and the challenges of sustainability. In a world which is increasingly looking towards Science, Design and Technology to respond to challenges such as global poverty, sustainability and climate change, young people need to have the skills and understanding to take this forward. This project will help teachers think about how they can encourage this development through the curriculum.

We are also looking at the possibility of a workshop at the British Association Science Festival, Birmingham in September 2010 which will share experiences from this project

This opportunity is most suitable for pairs of teachers from Science and D&T within the same school. To book a place email: wmc@tidec.org
